NewBee Abdul at Fronik farm in Zaandam

December 23, 2016

In the days before Christmas, we would like to share the beautiful story of our NewBee volunteer Abdul. He was the first 'statushouder' we matched to a local NGO in Zaandam.

Back in Syria, Abdul used to work at his fathers' chicken farm. Now, he has been working at the Fronik Buurtboerderij for three months.

Abdul: "I feel at home here, it feels like I am back on the farm with my family. I like the work and it's good to practice my Dutch language. Also, I am happy I can give something back to Holland."

Roel, inseparable from the farm, is also happy to have Abdul: "It's going really well, Abdul is enthusiastic and eager to learn. This past month we taught him the traditional Dutch 'tiling', for example".

This is a great amazing example of NewBees at work, so we really wanted to share it.

In 2017, we'll continue with our work and hopefully we will make a lot of new successful matches like this one.
